About 1.1 kV LT Cable Straight Through Joint Kit - Heat Shrink (GXLT)

The Gala GXLT/GPLT kit joins two lengths of low voltage power cable end to end, for repairs, extensions and new cable runs. It is a waterproof heat shrinkable design: each core connection is made with an inline connector (ferrule) and covered with a heat shrinkable insulation sleeve, armour continuity is restored with a bonding connection and worm drive clamps, and the whole joint is closed with a wraparound joint case and heat shrinkable outer jacketing sleeves. A galvanised mesh can replace the wraparound joint case where preferred.

There are two builds. GXLT is for XLPE or PVC insulated cable. GPLT is for paper-insulated lead-covered (PILC) cable and adds oil barrier tubing, inner protective tubing, a lead-sheath continuity system and a plumbed earth connection.

Kits are chosen by cable size, from 4 x 1.5-6 sq mm to 4 x 300-400 sq mm, with separate codes for 1.1 kV and 3.3 kV systems. Every kit holds full contents for one joint, and installation follows Gala's illustrated instruction sheet: prepare both cable ends, crimp the connectors, then shrink each layer in turn with a gas torch.

Gala holds a POWERGRID manufacturer approval and a MECON vendor registration for cable jointing and termination kits up to 33 kV, and an EIL enlistment for kits up to 11 kV.
