About PILC Cable Straight Through Joint Kit 3 Core 11 kV to 33 kV

Joining paper insulated lead covered (PILC) cable needs more than an XLPE joint: the impregnating compound has to be sealed in, and the lead sheath has to be bonded across the joint. Gala's GPS kits do both with heat shrinkable oil barrier sleeves on each core, a plumbed armour and lead-sheath earth connection, and a sealed outer jacket.

GPS/1112 is for 11 kV belted PILC cable (Umax 12 kV). The kit holds crimp-type inline connectors (copper or aluminium), oil barrier sleeves, heat shrinkable insulating tubing, an internal protection sleeve, insulation build-up mastic, polymeric core separator and insulating wedge, copper woven mesh tape, GI wire mesh, armour and lead-sheath earthing material, and an adhesive-lined outer jacket.

GPS/2436 is for screened PILC cable at 22 kV (24 kV class) and 33 kV (36 kV class). It adds stress control mastic and stress control tubing, a conducting breakout and conducting tube, void filler, red insulating tube and black-and-red dual wall tubing, a metallic protection cage and side sleeves.

Kit codes run from 16-35 sq mm to 500-630 sq mm at 11 kV, 25-50 to 300-500 sq mm at 24 kV and 35-70 to 400 sq mm at 36 kV. Each kit holds full contents for one joint, with installation aids and instructions.

Gala holds a POWERGRID manufacturer approval and a MECON vendor registration for cable jointing and termination kits up to 33 kV, and an EIL enlistment for kits up to 11 kV.
