Some cable ends have to be left sealed and clearly marked, for example spare ends of a distribution cable, ends parked during phased work, or cables awaiting connection. A single end cap seals the sheath but leaves the cores touching each other inside. The Gala INSULCAP-Live kit seals each core separately first.

Each kit contains four small inner caps, one per core, and one thick-wall outer cap. After cleaning and degreasing, a small cap is shrunk onto every core; the outer cap is then shrunk over the four capped cores and the cable sheath, closing the end with a smooth seal. The outer cap is marked with a live-flash symbol so the end is easy to identify. All caps are cross-linked polyolefin with an adhesive lining and are shrunk with a gas torch.

Four kits cover 4-core cables with conductors from 1.5 sq mm to 300 sq mm. Choose the kit by conductor size; each kit lists the outer cap and the inner cap that go together.

The caps are made from the same cross-linked polyolefin family as Gala's INSULCAP end caps, with a continuous temperature limit of -40 to +100 deg C. Gala is an ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified manufacturer.
