About Heat Shrink Non-Tracking Cable Breakout 3 Core (INSULCORE Red GAB)

At an outdoor or polluted termination the crutch of a three-core cable is exposed to rain, dust and surface leakage current. Gala's INSULCORE Red breakout seals that crutch with a tracking-resistant material made for such positions.

The breakout is moulded from orange-red, tracking-resistant cross-linked polyolefin and coated inside with water-resistant mastic. It is supplied expanded with three fingers, slid over the crutch with one core through each finger and shrunk with a gas torch, starting at the body and working out to the fingers. Once recovered it seals the crutch and covers the start of each core.

Gala states the material resists weathering and UV, chemicals, solvents, corrosion and fungus. Its tracking resistance is a guaranteed value: no tracking, erosion or flame failure at 3.25 kV for 20 minutes in the ASTM D2303 inclined-plane test. Other guaranteed values are 15 kV/mm minimum dielectric strength, 12 N/mm2 minimum tensile strength, 350 % minimum elongation and a continuous temperature limit of -40 to +100 deg C.

Eight sizes cover cable sheaths recovering to 20 to 56 mm and cores recovering to 8 to 29 mm, all for 3-core PVC and PILC cables. Gala is an ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified manufacturer.
