About Single Core XLPE Straight Through Joint Kit 11 kV to 33 kV

The Gala GXSS-1236 kits join single-core shielded MV cable, armoured or unarmoured, in three equipment classes: 12 kV (6.6/6.6 and 6.35/11 kV), 24 kV (8.7/15, 11/11 and 12.7/22 kV) and 36 kV (19/33 kV). They are the single-core counterpart to Gala's three-core GXS joints and suit large-conductor feeders, transformer and generator connections and other circuits built from three single-core cables.

Each kit makes one joint. The conductors are connected with an inline ferrule; stress control mastic fills the ferrule region; a stress control tube grades the field; one or two insulating tubes (by voltage class) and a dual wall tube rebuild the insulation and screen; and red insulating mastic tape fills and seals. Copper woven flexible mesh tape restores the screen, spring clamps or solder bond the earth, a GI mesh adds mechanical protection, and a heat shrinkable outer jacketing sleeve closes the joint. Copper binding wire, emery tape, silicone grease and illustrated instructions are included.

Fifteen kit codes cover conductor sizes from 16 sq mm to 1000 sq mm.

Gala holds a POWERGRID manufacturer approval and a MECON vendor registration for cable jointing and termination kits up to 33 kV, and an EIL enlistment for kits up to 11 kV.

Installation is with a gas torch after connecting the ferrule, following the instructions in every kit.
