About 11 kV Straight Through Joint Kit for 3 Core XLPE Cable - Heat Shrink

The Gala GXS-11 to GXS-15 kits join two lengths of 3-core XLPE or PVC insulated, shielded 11 kV cable, armoured or unarmoured, for cable repairs, extensions and new underground feeders.

The joint rebuilds the cable layer by layer. Each core is connected with an inline ferrule, stress control mastic fills the connector area, a black stress control sleeve grades the field, a red insulation tube rebuilds the insulation, and a red-and-black dual wall screened tube restores insulation and semiconducting screen in one shrink. Copper woven mesh tape restores the core screens, a tinned copper braid carries earth continuity across the joint, and a wraparound metallic joint case (or GI mesh) and heat shrinkable outer jacketing sleeves give mechanical protection and sealing. Red mastic, worm drive clips and installation aids, including nylon string for cutting XLPE, complete the kit.

Five kit codes cover cable sizes from 16-50 sq mm to 400-500 sq mm. For 11/11 kV (unearthed) cable, use the 22 kV class kit.

This 11 kV joint has the strongest test record in Gala's kit range. The 11 kV kit family (joint code GXS-13) was type tested to IEC 60502-4 at VEIKI-VNL, Hungary, in 2023 and found to fulfil the standard (certificate 13222/VNL). KEMA, Netherlands, issued Type Test Certificates in 2015 for Gala's 11 kV three-core straight through joint, to IS 13573-2 (1037-15) and IEC 60502-4 (1038-15). Gala's 11 kV joints carry a DCRP Oman product approval, and Gala holds POWERGRID, MECON and EIL approvals for kits.
