About Aerial Bunched Cable (ABC) Termination and Joint Kit 11 kV to 33 kV

Medium voltage aerial bunched cable (ABC) carries 11, 22 or 33 kV on poles as screened single-core cables bunched around a messenger. Where the overhead ABC run ends at a transformer, switch or underground cable, or where two lengths must be joined, each core needs a proper MV termination or joint. Gala makes both as heat shrinkable kits, one kit per core.

The GABO (outdoor) and GABI (indoor) termination kits contain a terminal lug, adhesive-lined terminal sleeve, lug sealing mastic, stress control sleeve and stress control mastic to grade the field at the screen cut, an anti-tracking sleeve, rain sheds (two, three or four by voltage class), a constant force spring roll or solder tack and copper braid for screen earthing, with installation aids and illustrated instructions.

The GABJ joint kits contain an inline ferrule, stress control mastic and tubing, insulating tubing, dual wall tubing, red insulating mastic tape, copper woven mesh tape for the screen, spring clamps or solder, and a heat shrinkable outer jacketing sleeve.

Kits are offered in three voltage classes: 12 kV (for 6.35/11 kV), 24 kV (for up to 12.7/22 kV) and 36 kV (for 19/33 kV), each in four cable-size bands. At 11 kV the range is 16-50 sq mm to 400 sq mm.

These kits are for MV ABC only, not for LT (1.1 kV) ABC.
