Steel street-lighting poles corrode fastest where they meet the ground: water, soil salts and debris collect at the base and attack the coating. Gala's Pole Protection Sleeve is designed to be used together with an epoxy paint system to seal that critical ground-line area.

The sleeve is made from cross-linked polyolefin with a hot-melt adhesive lining. When heated, it shrinks tightly onto the pole and the adhesive melts and bonds, giving a waterproof barrier and mechanical protection at the base.

Two formats cover the two situations a maintenance team meets. The GPWS wraparound sleeve is for poles already installed: it wraps round the standing pole with an overlap, so the pole does not have to be taken down, and six sizes cover pole outside diameters from 70 to 360 mm in 700 mm lengths. The GMW tubular sleeve is for new poles before they are erected: the tube is slid over the pole base and shrunk in place, in six sizes from GMW 180/55 to GMW 425/120, also 700 mm long.

Sleeves can be cut to size in the field and custom dimensions can be made on request. Typical jobs are re-used or relocated poles, poles set in pavement, poles in corrosive or waterlogged locations and poles whose base has been disturbed by cable trenching or regrading.
