About Soloterm Heat Shrink Termination for Polymeric MV Cable

Soloterm is Gala's compact heat shrinkable termination for polymeric medium voltage cable, for indoor and outdoor use. It combines electrical stress control, insulation and moisture sealing in very few components.

The key part is the GVOT sleeve, which carries an integrated varistor stress control coating inside an insulating sleeve. When shrunk, the stress control layer bonds to the cable insulation and screen, blocking moisture from within the cable, and seals to the cable lug. Because stress control is built into the sleeve, indoor terminations need no rain sheds, and the termination is compact, has few components and is simple to install. One design covers a range of cable sizes.

Typical uses are cable boxes and switchgear where space is tight, and outdoor terminations on polymeric distribution cable.

Gala's Soloterm sheet gives no kit codes, size bands or test data, so each enquiry is sized by Gala against the cable's voltage, conductor size and insulation diameter. Buyers should send cable details with the enquiry.

Installation is with a gas torch, following Gala's instructions.
