Cable manufacturers ship drums with both ends sealed. When a customer later claims the drum was short, the maker needs to know whether the ends are the ones it fitted. Gala's tamper proof end seal answers that question.

It is the standard INSULCAP heat-shrink end cap, cross-linked polyolefin with a hot-melt adhesive lining, printed with the customer's logo or text in non-removable ink. Once it has been shrunk onto the cable, the adhesive bonds to the sheath and the cap cannot be taken off and refitted without visible damage. A missing, cut or replaced cap shows that the cable end has been disturbed, which supports warranty control on cable length and discourages pilferage.

The seal also does the normal job of an end cap: it keeps water and moisture out of the cable end in storage, transport and on site. It suits XLPE, PVC, PILC and rubber-sheathed cables and is shrunk with a propane or butane torch from the closed end towards the cable; the cap recovers above 125 deg C.

The printed seal is offered across the INSULCAP size range, for cable outside diameters from 2.5 mm to 460 mm. Valved and relief-valved (de-gassing) caps are listed separately. Gala is an ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified manufacturer.
